Sizing for large format
Big work is not small work enlarged.
- HoardingsDesigned at a tenth of the final size and output at 300 dpi, which gives the printer 30 dpi at full scale. That is right for something read from across a road — more detail than that is money spent on ink nobody can see. Banners read from a few feet get set higher.
- Standees and roll-upsUsually 6 × 3 ft or 6 × 2.5 ft. Keep everything that matters above knee height; the bottom 300 mm disappears behind the stand and behind whoever is talking.
- BackdropsNothing critical in the centre, where people stand, and nothing important within 300 mm of any edge, where the frame grips it.
- Vehicle brandingMeasured off the actual vehicle, not from a template. Doors, handles and curves are not flat surfaces, and artwork that ignores that gets cut in half by a door seam.
- Screen workSized per platform rather than one square reused everywhere. A post cropped by the app is a post nobody reads.

What and where
What the job is, the finished size, and who is printing it. Those three answers decide everything after.

Draw
Set at the right size from the start, in the colours and fonts you already use.

Check
A proof at correct proportion, so the spelling and the scale both get caught before the press does.

Files to you, or straight to your printer in the format they asked for.

Ask. The board outside says all types of designing work and it is meant literally. If it is genuinely not something we do, we will tell you rather than learn on your job.
Small changes to work we already hold are the quickest thing we do. A new piece depends on what is in the queue. Tell us the deadline when you call and we will give you a straight answer either way.
We design. You get press-ready files and we can send them straight to your printer. For work we have done before, we know which printers in Ahmedabad handle it well, and we are happy to say so.
If you have the source file, yes, and it is quicker for you. If all you have is a JPG we may need to redraw it — we will tell you which it is before starting, not after.
Yes. Come back in two years for a reprint and the file is still here. That is most of the reason clients stay with one studio.
